Busy Summer?
Are you having a busy summer? I certainly am. Projects, trips, special events, weddings and the like have really kept Connie and me running these past few weeks. Summertime activities and responsibilities seem to totally consume the season. Everything from the job, house and yard work, kid’s sports and vacation preparation to summer moves or out of town company plus extra trips to the gym or tanning salon to “look good” for summer… can leave you without much free time. The season we think of as a time to “slow down”, most often causes us to “speed up” even more than before. Then, before we know it we’re saying, “What? Is summer already over?” Yep!
It happens every year.
It’s easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of summer and forget our most important priorities. You know the ones I’m talking about. Prayer and Bible reading. Oh yeah. You had almost forgotten about them? Well, I am here to give you your friendly pastoral reminder. The Lord loves you. He’s on your side. It’s good not to forget about Him during your busy summer. You need him when it’s hot just like you do when it’s cold.
From my own experience, I’ve found that nothing compares to a little early morning time with God. In fact, if I don’t get up early to have time with Him before the events of the day begin to transpire; I very likely won’t find time for Him at all. It doesn’t matter whether it’s summer, winter, spring or fall. It just won’t happen.
When I put Him first however…the whole day just flows better. I find the time to do what’s really important…and to disengage from what isn’t. I really recommend a consistent, daily, alone-time with God during the summer.
Put God first and your summer can be the best one ever!
